This very scarce album . There are cuts of the Liquidator, Longshot, With A Girl Like You rhythms on the LP and a DJ coming in and out on many tracks. I would date it at about 1972 at a guess. Some nice and mostly subtle use of echo on side two, even on its first track which shifts from skank to a mento-ish type tune with attractive horn parts. Side two repeats side one's rhythms version-style and is far superior to side one. Track 2 side 2, which various reggae figures are namechecked on, calls for ganja to be made legal, including Prince Buster, Derrick Morgan, Max Romeo and Count Shelly and has lots of smoking a draw FX on side 2. Side two track 3 appears to be called Liquid Dub. There is a horn section on the LP thought not all the time and trombone is not paramount. Mad gun FX and explosive drumming on side two track five, which is presumably why it's called Bullet Dub. Side 2 track 6 is a tribute to Haile Selassie I HIM. Guessing that the full story of this album will perhaps remain a reggae mystery. Boss LP. UK original :: |
